Empowering Intergenerational Peer Coaching for Low-Income Seniors’ Art Learning

The project aims to establish a platform connecting low-income Chinese Canadian seniors with children and youths, fostering intergenerational engagement through free monthly drawing and cultural dancing training sessions, along with practice sessions designed for regular physical and mental activities for routine development, enhancing overall well-being.

Also, the participants will join a group dancing show event and drawing exhibition at the end, where they will collaboratively demonstrate their newly developed skills and cultural insights. After the project ends, these individuals will become cultural ambassadors equipped to provide free dance and drawing peer coaching to other low-income seniors to promote cultural diversity and improve seniors’ well-being

2023

The project aims to build a platform for a pilot run to connect 100 low-income Chinese Canadian seniors with children and youths to establish brand new 40 e-families. The e-families will be bonded as a team to join free 20 weekly art learning, 24 weekly virtual connections and 2 art galleries to develop an enjoyable art learning lifelong habit and a regeneration routine for mind rehabilitation. After the project ends, this value-added art training program integrated with mental health early prevention and intervention features will be expanded to other cultural communities to maximize the benefit to more seniors.
