‘Country road’ Theme, The 18th Canada International Children’s Art Festival Press Conference Held in Toronto
When the bell of 2020 just rings, the Canada International Children’s Art Festival, which is loved by children, is about to launch! On January 7, the organizing committee of the 18th Canada International Children’s Art Festival held a press conference in Toronto. Guests present include: the Hon. Aris Babikian MPP, Jim Karygiannis, Toronto City Councilor; Weiqi Zhou, Chairman of the Canada International Children’s Art Foundation; Thomas Qu, Co-Chair of the Festival; Joe Santalucia, Co-Chair of the Festival; Shanshan Chu, Festival’s Music Committee Chair; Janna Chalkevitch, Festival’s Dance Committee Chair; Eugene Tanaka, Festival’s Award Ceremony Concert Gala Director; Michelle Liu, Festival’s summer camp director; Shan Lv, sponsor representative, Shanshan Financial president; and the secretary general of the festival Ziona Zhou.
The President of the Canada International Children’s Art Foundation, Weiqi Zhou, first delivered a warm welcome on behalf of the Festival organizing committee to the Canadian three levels governments, art institutions, artists, sponsors and all guests who came to the press conference! The 18th Canada International Children’s Art Festival will be held in Toronto from July 24 to August 13, 2020. The theme of this year’s art festival is: Country Road. Let all children be concerned about the environment, love life, and become the masters of the future world. Express the beautiful world in their own hearts through art. Any country and region, any nationality, and children under 17 years old (including 17 years old) can register.
Mr. Thomas(Tao) Qu, Co-Chair of the Canada International Children’s Arts Festival, said, “I am honored to be part of the festival team as Co-Chair. The art festival has been successfully held for 18 consecutive years. It is the result of long-term support from the three levels of governments of Canada, Corporate sponsors and enthusiastic supporters. It is the result of many volunteers’ help. Thank you all!”
Festival music committee Chair Shanshan Chu, dance committee Chair Janna Chalkevitch, award concert gala director Eugen Tanaka, and summer camp co coordinator Michelle Liu introduced the major events of the festival.
Zhang Zhili, member of the Canadian International Children’s Arts Foundation, Dai Daqi, member of the Canada-China Cultural Council, and Liu Wei, president of the Canadian Alumni Association of Tsinghua University, attended the press conference. Furthermore, media and educational institutions, sponsors, and multi-cultural community leaders attended the press conference.
The festival is hosted by the Canada International Children’s Art Foundation. Co-sponsored by the Canada-China Cultural Council, the American Chinese Culture and Art Alliance, and co-organized by Canada STEAMS Youth Association Canada Youth Federation, Galaxy Future Star (Beijing) Culture and Art Center. We are also honored to receive special support from the Federal Government of Canada, the City of Toronto, City of Oshawa, the Toronto Library, Festival and Events Ontario(FEO), Tsinghua University South Ontario Alumni Association, Shanghai Financial, DX Financial, JD Development, Shanxi Cookie Rabbit Art Center, New Express Newspaper and Calligraphy Institute, The Canadian Association of Chinese Language Teachers, Japan Chinalinear Education Group, Thailand 1985 arts Club, Contemporary Malaysian Watercolorists Association, Berlin Lancini Kunstgalerie und Modeboutique, etc.
Protecting and developing the artistic nature of children, building an international children’s art platform, promoting and prospering international children’s art interaction, and promoting the development of children’s arts are the consistent aims of the Canadian International Children’s Art Festival. In the past 18 years, tens of thousands of children have participated in various competitions and activities of the art festival. They come from Canada, China, the United States, Southeast Asian countries, and some European countries. Art works of different countries, different ages, and different styles communicate and collide here, just like a beautiful symphony.
In addition to art, music, recitation, fairy tales, dance, film and television, children’s drama and other projects, this year’s art festival also include cultural and entertainment items such as children’s table tennis and hand-painted rackets. Children who love art, sports, and technology are welcome to participate.
This year’s art festival will enhance the summer camp program, and promoting the “art master class” brand, so that children participating in the summer camp will experience the diversity of arts activities such as art exhibition, attend the award ceremony concert gala, participate to the master classes etc.
Last year, the Arts Festival has successfully organized the “Toronto-Shanghai International Children’s Art Week”, and children’s exchange ideas between the two countries, cities and have achieved great results! We will continue to cooperate with Shanghai and expand to more countries and regions.
The Canadian International Children’s Art Festival was founded by Canadian artists Weiqi Zhou and Junshan Zhu in 2002, and has so far successfully held 18 years. Today’s Art Festival is marching towards Canada’s largest comprehensive children’s art festival with international influence.
